Academy Trust Improvement Planning

Trust Improvement Plan

Improving Outcomes for Children, Improving the Trust

Summary of the Key Learning Priorities identified for the Trust from IDSR and other self-evaluation tools:

Priority 1: Learning Standards

Improved attainment at both a school and trust level: Narrowing of the attainment gap in KS2 SATs and internal assessments, particularly in reading, writing, and maths.

Accelerated progress: Disadvantaged pupils make above-average progress from their starting points.

Priority 2: Curriculum and Assessment

Further embed Trust wide collaborative CPD strategies to ensure conceptual alignment and curriculum delivery;

Align with new national curriculum expectations;

Develop digital strategies, mapping and teacher expertise;

Priority 3: Vision and Culture

Church schools secure Good SIAMs inspection and there is evidence of impact on Vision and Values in other Trust Schools;

Embed the Trust Culture and Identity;

Priority 4: Safeguarding (including behaviour and attendance)

Pupils with SEND make expected or better progress from their individual starting points as shown in internal and external data sets;

Overall attendance across the Trust rises to at least national average (96% target);

Priority 5: People and Leadership

Improve internal leadership capacity at all levels;

Formulate and deliver a change strategy to ensure Trust wide operations, staffing and costs are sustainable with consideration to reducing our carbon footprint;

Continue to maintain effective financial management practices and systems to future-proof the Trust.

Sharing Professional Expertise

We regularly have teachers from other schools visit us to observe excellent practice in teaching  and for coaching by our expert teachers.

This term, Ms.Neale, our school and Trust Maths Lead and also a County Maths Lead met with teachers from schools from across Cornwall met at St Stephens as part of the CODE Maths Hub *Teaching for Mastery* programme.

As part of the session, participants visited a Year 3 lesson to observe the embedding of number sense through the **Mastering Number (Year 3) materials**.

During the observation, teachers identified a clear **mathematical buzz** within the classroom. The session demonstrated strong teacher subject knowledge, well-planned opportunities for mathematical talk and reasoning, and the consistent use of precise mathematical language.

Importantly, all pupils were able to access the learning and experience success within the session. A massive thank you to Mrs. Hunt and the St Stephens' year 3 pupils for providing this valuable CPD opportunity.

The second part of the Teaching Research Group (TRG) focused on the **progression of fluency across schools**. This provided valuable time for reflection and generated rich professional discussion around effective approaches to developing fluency within the Teaching for Mastery framework.
