Sharing what we do to meet the needs of the evolving myriad of children's needs in our academy schools

Welcome to the An Daras SEND section of the website.  These resources aim to provide easy access to consistent, high-quality information, practical ideas and resources for school staff and parents who are supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

The following areas are covered:

  • Descriptions of some of the different types of needs which you may come across – and how to spot them in a school setting / home
  • Strategies for meeting these needs and developing individual plans and supporting in the home environment
  • Ideas for how to work successfully in partnership with parents and children
  • Expectations of schools as part of the graduated response to meet the needs of children with additional needs

Also included are a suite of condition-specific introductory training videos created for newly qualified teachers / development of knowledge for teachers to provide helpful pointers, techniques and advice on inclusive teaching strategies.

Our role is to oversee the special educational needs and disability provision within the academy schools, to support staff delivering this provision and to work with outside agencies to provide the best support and care for the children in our schools and to work in partnership with parents to meet their children’s additional needs.
